According to Sky Sports, St Mirren have held talks over a deal for the Walsall centre-back who is out of contract in the summer.

However, Express & Star understands that Walsall have rejected a bid from the Scottish Premier League outfit with Williams expected to stay at Bescot this month.

When asked on Williams' situation, Sadler responded: "Harry is a young player that I love working with. Still in the early stages of his career and someone who I can see growing and becoming a real leader in his own right.

"I'm certainly not finished with my journey with him yet and I don't believe he is either.

"It's a similar message to what we mentioned before. It's part of it that we have players that get linked to other clubs.

"That's what we want as a football club. We want to be successful to then have people interested in our players. You certainly don't want it the other way.

"The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about and that's exactly the case.

The 22-year-old, who arrived from non-league Alvechurch in 2023, has made 26 appearances in all competitions for Walsall this term, scoring two goals.

Williams has been monitored by a number of clubs in League One and Scotland but is expected to remain with Walsall, as reported by the Express & Star earlier this month.

The defender reportedly held contracts talks over a new deal before Christmas and Williams and his representatives are hoping to reach an agreement over the coming months.
