Forest, currently sitting third in the Premier League, are preparing a move for the Brazilian, according to reports.

It is claimed former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has made the 25-year-old his top target in the January window at the City Ground.

Wolves are under no pressure to offload 10-goal top scorer Cunha, despite him coming under fire from boss Vitor Pereira for his poor body language in the defeat to Chelsea on Monday.

However, reports from Sky Sports and the Daily Mail claim the East Midlanders are prepared to make a club record bid to take Cunha to power their bid to reach next season’s Champions League.

Their current club record purchase was the £35million paid to Newcastle for Elliot Anderson last summer.

However, Wolves value Cunha in excess of £60m and is thought Forest’s valuation may be some way below that figure.

Wolves current record sale was for the transfer of Pedro Neto to Chelsea in a deal that could add up to £54m.

Arsenal are also thought to be interested in the forward and could make a bid during the current window.
