The 61-year-old addressed the media for the first time on Monday, after he was appointed as Carlos Corberan's successor last week, and he was full of enthusiasm.
He walked into the press room at the Albion training ground, accompanied by Andrew Nestor, the club's sporting director, before speaking passionately about football and life for the next 60 minutes.
Of course, the fire alarm disrupted his flow halfway through.
The press gathered outside, accompanied by the Albion players who were preparing to get on the coach destined for Middlesbrough ahead of their Championship fixture tonight.
