The Northern Ireland international, 21, is believed to be set for England to complete the final stages of his switch to the Championship club.

Price could become the Baggies’ first signing of the January transfer window and first of under new head coach Tony Mowbray, who returned to the club on Friday.

The former Everton youngster has been linked with a move to The Hawthorns for some time and was mooted for a switch last summer.

Price moved to Belgian outfit Standard in 2023 with a four-year contract that runs through to 2027.

It is understood Albion are working on a permanent deal and reports in Belgium state a move of around three million euros (£2.5m) plus a sell-on.

He featured for Liege in Sunday night’s 2-1 win over Sint-Truidense and is said to be jetting over to progress with the move.

Price is a central midfielder capable of playing in a deeper or more offensive role. He has six goals in 18 caps for Northern Ireland, including a hat-trick against Bulgaria in the Nations League earlier this season.

Albion options in the central midfield role this term are Alex Mowatt, Jayson Molumby, Ousmane Diakite and loanee Uros Racic

Mowatt and Molumby, who recently signed a new deal, have mostly been the side’s go-to pairing. Summer signing Diakite has caught the eye over the Christmas period.

West Yorkshire-born midfielder Price has also interested Preston and Rangers recently.
