The 23-year-old midfielder - who can also play at centre-back - was a target for Wolves who made an initial €12million (around £10million) bid, with a 10 per cent sell on clause.

Talks continued over the weekend with Primeira Liga club Vitoria SC and Wolves eventually agreed a €12million plus €2million in add-ons, alongside a 20 per cent sell-on.

Wolves also agreed personal terms with Silva, as they closed in on making him their second signing of the January transfer window.
