Farquharson has spent the past five months on the side lines and has not featured since hobbling off in Walsall's 1-0 defeat at Tranmere Rovers in August.

The centre-back was initially targeting a comeback in the New Year but suffered another setback in November which ruled him out for a further two months.

While Farquharson is still expected to be out for the same time period, Sadler did issue an update revealing that he is hopeful of seeing him before the end of the season.

He said: "Priestley is coming along in his recovery. We're probably looking at another couple of months still but the hope is that we see him before the end of the season and that's what we're all pushing towards.

"That's exactly what he is fixed for. We had some good news that he has healed in the way that it needs to so he'll start to build-up over the weeks go on."

Farquharson, who is out of contract in the summer, has been plagued by injuries since arriving at Bescot in the summer of 2023 following the end of his contract at Newport County.

Three long-term injuries restricted the 27-year-old to just 21 appearances across all competitions during his debut campaign while he has featured just three times this term.
