Walsall vs MK Dons - preview: Mat Sadler backs Saddlers strike force to fill Nathan Lowe void
Mat Sadler insists the depth across Walsall's strike force will come to the fore ahead of the visit of MK Dons to Bescot tomorrow.
Walsall, who sit 12 points clear at the summi start life without League Two leading scorer Nathan Lowe after the teenager was recalled from his loan spell by Stoke City on Sunday night.
Lowe scored 18 goals and set-up seven more in 30 matches across all competitions for the Saddlers including six in his final five games for the club.
Albert Adomah, Danny Johnson or Josh Gordon are likely to be given a chance to stake a claim, especially if a new striker is not through the door in time to feature on the weekend.
And while Sadler confirmed that Walsall are targeting another centre-forward, the Walsall boss has backed his current attacking options to rise to the challenge.
"Unfortunately Lowe isn't here but what a brilliant spell he had with us. Now we move on very quickly in terms of the next bits.
"We're very lucky to have the guys that we already have in the building. Jamille Matt, Josh Gordon, Danny Johnson and Albert Adomah.
"As much as we talk about people coming in, we've got a fantastic squad of people here already who're desperate to work and do their jobs.
"I don't for one second want to dismiss anybody that's in here just for the clamour of trying to bring people in.
"That's not how we work. We know what we want to do and as and when those things happen, we'll let everyone know."
Jamille Matt scored twice in Walsall's historic 5-1 rout over Tranmere Rovers last weekend to bring up a century of goals in the Football League for the experienced frontman.
The 35-year-old has netted nine times in League Two, four more than his tally in the whole of last season, with his goals expected to take on an even more significant importance between now and the end of the season.
That victory set a club record eight-match winning streak in the league and stretched their lead at the League Two summit to 12 points.
While Sadler is keen to bolster his attacking options, he feels the variety of strikers he has at his disposal, and is looking to add, will always provide Walsall with different ways to win matches.
"It's the spice of life. We're going to need that because every single team is trying to do it their way and have their strengths and weaknesses.
"So it's always our job to have options to try to change and adapt and move forward in the way that we want to do it which isn't always easy.
"I want to be able to approach every game differently as we do and to do that, you need options.
"We want that, we've got that and hopefully we'll soon have more."
