Non-league previews: Wednesfield 'good enough to beat anybody'
Wednesfield's new head coach Ben Holden says the struggling Midland League Division One side are ‘good enough to beat anybody’, writes Dan Hickey.
The former player has introduced spin class and double training sessions since arriving in late December.
Holden’s tough introduction to the division included last weekend’s 5-1 loss to high-flying league leaders Nuneaton Town, however he is confident going into their game against relegation-rivals Allexton & New Parks on Saturday.
He said: “I’m the kind of person, I don't worry about opposition. I worry about what we could do as a group.
“I worry about us rather than trying to counterstrike their attacks. You know, if we’re good on the day, we turn up on the day, I think we're good enough to beat anybody.”
The former Sikh Hunters manager is well aware of his new club’s current focus.
“Obviously, I'm going up a division, so obviously it's a little bit more in depth in terms of planning for games and behind the scenes," he added. “Some things at the football club are to change in the future, but obviously the main priority at the moment is the first team, which is obviously on relegation points.
“So, we’ve got the Allexton game on Saturday against a team one point above us, so an opportunity to claw some points back, but it's a long way to go and it's not going to be over this weekend.”
Elsewhere in Midland One, Cradley Town clash with fellow play-off hopefuls Leicester St Andrews, while Smethwick Rangers will hope to stop their winless run against bottom-placed Paget Rangers.

Stone Old Alleynians travel to Dudley Town, OJM Black Country host Shifnal Town, Stourport Swifts are at home to Highgate United and AFC Wulfrunians are visited by 1874 Northwich.
Wolverhampton Casuals’ game against Studley could get them out of last place.
