Albion's hierarchy have undertaken a lengthy and wide ranging search for Corberan's successor - after the Spaniard departed the club on Christmas Eve.

The candidates were whittled down to a three man interview shortlist, with former Young Boys boss Raphael Wicky emerging as the front runner as advanced talks took place over the weekend.

However, on Monday it emerged that a deal had fallen through due to issues surrounding his backroom staff.

Rene Hake, a former assistant coach to Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, was another candidate who was interviewed by Albion during their process.
