The 21-year-old, whose current deal at Drogheda has expired, will return to the League of Ireland side on loan until January next year.

Walsall also have an option to recall him from his 12-month loan in the summer.

Ahui, who predominantly operates as a right-back, has had two spells with Drogheda - scoring twice in 41 appearances in all competitions across both.

Starting his career at Lincoln City, Ahui also gained experience on loan at Gainsborough Trinity, Peterborough Sports and Ayr United.

He first joined Drogheda on loan in 2023 before signing permanently last summer.

“It’s a good club and I know a couple of people who have come here so I’m happy to be here," Ahui said.

“I’m athletic, strong and very good defensively. Hopefully we get promoted but I’m looking forward to coming back here and helping the team out.”

Ahui made 21 appearances for Drogheda last term and collected his first piece of silverware as he was voted man of the match in Drogheda's victory over Derry City in the FAI Cup final in November.

After the signing of Evan Weir in 2023 and Douglas James-Taylor's successful loan spell at Drogheda, Sadler is delighted to continue the collaboration between both clubs.

“Elicha is a fantastic athlete who competes well defensively and is another player who fits perfectly with the model of young, hungry players who want to improve and get better,” Sadler said.

“It is also another example of the collaboration between Walsall and Drogheda United."
