Sam Hornby

Hornby has seized his moment in the spotlight in the EFL Trophy this term. The 29-year-old may have featured just once in the league this term but he has featured in every game in this competition so far, and played a starring role in the process.

After saving a pair of penalties in the shoot-out success at Birmingham, Hornby showcased his spot-kick heroics once again to deny Kristian Sekularac at the death in Walsall's 1-0 win over Fulham under-21s.

He followed that up with a clean sheet in the 3-0 win over Shrewsbury before making a hat-trick of saves in the shoot-out win over Reading in the previous round.

David Okagbue

Okagbue has been rested for the past two rounds but I expect at least one of the regular centre-backs to be involved.

Donervon Daniels

The club captain has played a peripheral role, at least in terms of his input on the pitch this season, but it could be an ideal time to hand him a rare start.

Sadler will be mindful of keeping Harry Williams fresh for the league and Daniels serves as a readymade replacement in the centre of the back-line.

Evan Weir

Weir impressed on just his second league start of the season at Notts County on New Year's Day - collecting a pair of assists and producing a remarkable goal-line clearance.

He returned to the bench on the weekend but will be fresh to start on the left side of defence considering he has featured in every minute in the EFL Trophy so far this term.

Ryan Stirk

There is scope for Brandon Comley to be handed a rare start although Sadler may still be mindful of throwing him in at the deep end with the midfielder amassing limited minutes since his recent return from injury.

Rico Browne

Browne just missed out on the match day squad on Saturday but was being put through his paces in the pre-match warm-up at Bescot.

He has had a chance to prove his worth in the past two games in the EFL Trophy and particularly impressed at right wing-back in the previous round against Reading.

Sadler may take the opportunity to give Connor Barrett a well deserved rest while new signing Nathan Asiimwe is cup-tied.

Oisin McEntee

McEntee will be looking to build on his past two performances to put himself in the mix for a regular place in the first team again.

He made a key impact from the bench in the comeback win over Notts County and consolidated that promising performance with another top display on his first league start in over four months on the weekend.

Charlie Lakin

Lakin was a surprise omission from the starting line-up against Tranmere, with Sadler opting for McEntee to partner Jamie Jellis.

It proved an inspired decision with McEntee producing another strong performance and Jellis scoring Walsall's fourth to further underline their strength in depth.

Nevertheless, Lakin has been a key figure throughout his debut campaign at Walsall and played his own part on Saturday with an energetic cameo from the bench.

Liam Gordon

Gordon has been an ever-present at left wing-back under Sadler although Taylor Allen was deployed there in the last round.

He could opt to do the same again, but it feels as if it will be a toss-up between the two.

Danny Johnson

Johnson has gone almost exactly a year without a league start for Walsall but the EFL Trophy has given him a chance to shine.

He scored the winning goal in the 1-0 triumph over Fulham under-21s in the group stage and forced penalties with a last-gasp leveller against Reading in the round of 32.

Albert Adomah

Adomah partnered Johnson in the last round and is likely to do so again with Sadler surely keen to keep Jamille Matt fresh especially in the wake of Nathan Lowe's recall.
