Dave Edwards: Nuno-esque performance downs Wolves

A 3-0 scoreline really doesn't explain how the game unfolded at Molineux on Monday night.

When you look at the injuries that Wolves had, and Matheus Cunha's ban, it was a really decent performance, especially from an attacking point of view.

That's why I don't think that Vitor Pereira really did too much wrong. It comes down to those fine moments in the first half, two moments in particular, that result in the opening two goals.

The build-up play and the spaces Guedes and Hwang found were really impressive, while the young wing-backs played extremely well and got lots of joy with crosses into the box.

The two big chances fell to Jorgen Strand Larsen that he needed to take. They were the difference.

Wolves were creating and they were in control of the game, but you just know how devastating Nottingham Forest can be when they counter-attack and we saw that in the first 10 minutes.

Joao Gomes and Tommy Doyle got caught ahead of the ball and Morgan Gibbs-White was the wrong side of them. In a split second it was four against three and it's difficult for the defenders.

Rayan Ait-Nouri gave Elanga a bit too much space in the box and eventually, with a bit of luck, Gibbs-White finished it.

The second goal came from a little bit of miscommunication with the line. Matt Doherty wasn't aware that Santi Bueno had dropped a little deeper and the cross-field ball made it difficult.
