Home substitute Joe Allen steered in a stoppage time header to deny the managerless visitors rare successive victories as the Baggies had to make do with yet another frustrating draw.

Tom Fellows had emerged from the bench to fire a 66th-minute breakthrough for Albion, following a first half in which the visitors created numerous presentable opportunities to move ahead.

The Swans - managed by Luke Williams who is not a candidate for the vacant Albion job despite links - had more of the ball at 1-0 down but did not create any serious chances until experienced Wales international Allen, 34, crept between defenders to convert.

Brunt said: "Yeah I think on the whole we probably didn't deserve it (for Swansea to equalise). We had a lot of opportunities in the game to create stuff and in the final third we probably let ourselves down.

"We asked questions of them defensively the whole game. In the first 15 minutes they put us under a bit of pressure but once we got to grips with the game everything we spoke about went well. We had scenarios on the counter-attack and we maybe picked the wrong option the odd time, on another day we pick the right option and score a couple more goals.

"When we went ahead I actually thought we were quite comfortable, but if you don't get that second to kill it off there's always that possibility. We defended that scenario the whole game quite well, they have a spare man at the back post from crosses.

"That was the one time someone got in between our lads in the box. Joe Allen's an experienced guy, he picked his little space and finished it well.

"It feels like a defeat, I suppose. But it was always going to be a tough period of games. As a player I've come here a lot and come away with nothing, that might be one of the first time I come away with anything, so maybe when I look back I might not be as disappointed as now."

Home goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux made a couple of first-half saves - one particularly good stop from Karlan Grant - but the away side managed by Brunt, Damia Abella and Boaz Myhill did not turn their dominance, and numerous breaks on a gaping defence, into clear chances.

Fellows had another chance to put Albion clear having already broken the deadlock but skied his effort.

Albion's record from four games under the interim team reads five points - a win and two draws - from a possible 12.

"They were not necessarily (big) goalscoring chances, but the goalkeeper's made a couple of saves from the edge of the box," Brunt added.

"That's something we've tried to encourage over the last couple of weeks, people shooting from distance, committing people and being positive. The lads have done that really well.

"You've probably got to score one of those in the first half when on top and the second half becomes a bit different but to be fair to the lads the lads cracking on in the second half and did the exact same thing. When we got the goal we deserved it.

"When you get the first you need to get the second. You're going to be under a bit of pressure, naturally, especially with the run of games. There's a few tired bodies out there. Unfortunately we couldn't deal with one last ball."
