Albion bounced back from their Boxing Day disappointment against Derby - as they went toe to toe with the league leaders.
After falling behind in the first half, they struck back through Karlan Grant and for long periods looked like the side who could go on to win the game.
Neither side could find a winner and the spoils were shared, but Wilder was left far from happy with penalty claims for his side that were waved away.
And in his post match comments to Sky Sports, went on to quip that his side were battling with a 'youth team' on the bench, while stating Albion had top quality players to bring off the bench.
"We're massively stretched," said Wilder.
"I told you before we have got injuries and illness running through the group as well.
"We were disappointed to go in at half time level because I thought we were the better team, and by the way, they have got some really good players.
"Have you see the players they're bringing on the pitch? Swift, Diangana, all those boys, proper footballers, Dobbin, have I missed any?"
Wilder then proceeds to take the team sheet from the reporter and goes on to say, 'let's have a look'.
"I'm just having a look at our youth team, and then there you have Dobbin, Paddy McNair, Devante Cole. Good players there, so we were running on empty at the end but it didn't feel like it."
Sheffield United had two shouts in the game for a penalty that were both waved away.
Ousmane Diakite's shoulder to shoulder tackle on Callum O'Hare was dismissed by the referee, as was a coming together between Tom Davies and Jayson Molumby in the box.
Down the other end, Albion believe they were denied a penalty at the end of the game when Torbjorn Heggem looked to be having his shirt pulled, but nothing was given.
However, focussing on his side and their incidents, Wilder believes they would be given as fouls anywhere else on the pitch.
"Any other part of the pitch and that push on Callum O'Hare when he goes through is a free kick," added Wilder.
"Then two minutes later there is one in the bottom corner and then one in the top corner.
"What happens is that it is in a different area of the pitch that has lines around it, so it is not not given when it should be given."
His comments were picked up by Albion fans on social media, who were far from impressed by what they called a 'salty' response to his side not winning the game.
One Baggies said: "Warnock esc bias! We were missing a few as well and haven’t got a Hamer/Moore/O'Hare. We dominated second half Wilder - stop crying your salty tears."
Another added Albion were the better side, stating: "Not sure what planet he's on. Second half WBA clearly the better team and first half we had more shots on goal."
Another labelled Wilder an embarrassment due to the fact he has one of, if not the best squad in the division.
They added: "Honestly this guy is embarrassing - huge parachute payments to pay massive wages…”stretched - give over!
"Got the best midfielder in the league (Hamer) and tens of millions of pounds of players in that squad."
And another Albion fan said: "Wilder trying to make you believe that they were forced to play the local U15 side today whilst we we were bringing Ballon d’Or winners off the bench."
