Earing was introduced on the hour-mark and played a key role in the build-up to Nathan Lowe's opening goal before the teenager bagged his brace in stoppage time.
However, Earing had to be replaced in the final minute of normal time and looked visibly upset as he left the pitch.
Sadler was unable to provide a clear early assessment but admitted it did look potentially serious.
He said: "Unfortunately, Jack looks to have taken a bit of an injury on his ankle I think he said.
"I don't really have an idea on that yet but that doesn't look great at the moment. We'll have to watch and see what that looks like."
Sadler also revealed that Josh Gordon returned to full training this week after missing the past four months with a hamstring issue.
"He trained with us for the first time in terms of proper training yesterday. We've got a period of a couple of weeks of getting him back up to speed now," he added.
"I'm not going to rush him because he has been out for a long time."
