The group, led by chairman Shilen Patel, face their biggest decision in 10 months as Albion owners after Corberan's sudden departure for Valencia on Christmas Eve.

Bilkul's chief executive and sporting director Andrew Nestor will lead the search for the club's next head coach as the owners look to continue the consistent approach and strategy based on data and analytics they began working to during the summer.

Albion have been flooded with interest in the vacant role but are focused on a methodical and detailed search. Progress has been made during the Christmas period but club chiefs are not focused on a speedy appointment, more reaching the correct conclusion.

A busy schedule means an appointment in time for the trip to Swansea on January 4 looks unlikely at this stage. The club have worked to a shortlist of desired candidates from an existing list of successors should Corberan depart.

United States owners Bilkul are understood to be hunting an analytical-style coach who is tactically astute as well as a motivator who can be expressive from a solid foundation.

The appointment is the ownership's first having inherited Corberan as head coach 10 months ago and view it as an opportunity to bring the best possible profile in for their vision at The Hawthorns.

Albion will not be restricted to out-of-work bosses and are willing to pay compensation for the desired candidates. Corberan's release clause of £2.5million - 3million euros - was met in full by Valencia.

The club are not solely eyeing a new head coach with experience of either English football or the Championship specifically.

Nestor works hybrid from both England and in his homeland and will lead the search. His sporting experience began more than 15 years ago as president, CEO and general manager at Tampa Bay Rowdies.

He and Patel also have experience operating in European football. Nestor spent two years at Bologna and oversaw a return to Serie A in Italy while overseeing a transformation of the club's sporting operations.

Out-of-work trio Mark Robins, former Baggies boss Tony Mowbray and Steve Cooper have been linked to the post as examples of managers with extensive experience in the pyramid. Dutch coach John Heitinga, who is working under Arne Slot at Liverpool, was reported as a "leading contender" following Corberan's exit.
