In a contest majorly affected by the monsoon like weather conditions, Nathan Lowe provided a moment of magic to open the scoring with a low drive from range in the 34th minute.

Harrogate were reduced to 10-men when Josh March was shown a second yellow card for an elbow on Taylor Allen to hand the hosts a second blow in quick succession.

Charlie Lakin, Taylor Allen and Liam Gordon all had chances in the second half but Albert Adomah added the second with 21 minutes remaining on his first league start for the club.

Sadler said: "The conditions were awful. I didn't realise it was going to be like this if I'm honest with you. Tough conditions but fair play to the lads, they didn't use it as an excuse at all.

"If anything they used it as a tool to be more focused and concentrated and to be prepared for what ever was going to come. But with that wind and rain, it can be difficult so getting the goal settles everything down.

"Obviously the sending off puts the advantage firmly in our court. The only surprise I suppose is that there weren't more goals on the day because we had loads of great chances."

Tommy Simkin registered his ninth clean sheet in League Two and became the first goalkeeper to keep four consecutive away shutouts in the league in 31 years.

Meanwhile, Walsall extended their unbeaten run to 10 league games and registered a third win on the bounce on their travels.

But Sadler insists his side won't be taking anything for granted as he looks to fend off complacency.

"We've just got to keep going," Sadler continued. "We've got a settled team, a settled way of playing and everyone knows their jobs and roles.

"That's what we try to do and what we want to carry on doing. Keep our heads down and don't take anything for granted."
