The opening contest on the card sees a field of seven take on the extended mile maiden stakes in class five (4.30), open only to two-year-old runners. Preference in the opener heads the way of debutant King Of Narnia for the powerful John and Thady Gosden team, a half-brother to several winners including Marksman Queen over this trip. Perfect Life was an encouraging third on debut at Southwell 57 days ago and should progress here so rates as the next best.

Course and distance winner Hippocratic Oath looks the one to beat in race two of the evening (5.00), with two wins from six starts this year including at Southwell in October and was a good second last time out at Kempton, while race three on the card (5.30) can go the way of Mehmas Shy Angel for trainer Richard Hughes, who is the pick on form having made late progress to finish in midfield on debut.

Kon Tiki is a half-sister to excellent all-weather performer Champagne Prince so that blood-line, plus a hefty 220,000 Guineas price tag, sees the Jane Chapple-Hyam-trained filly rate as the selection in race four at Wolverhampton (6.00) as eight runners take on the fillies' novice stakes in class four. Mystery Of Love rates the main threat from the William Haggas yard, a good third last time out at Southwell and looks the type to progress.

Rosenpur has hit the frame on his last two starts, including at this track on December 9 and he is taken to go one better in race five (6.30) for trainer Jennie Candlish and get the better of last-time-out scorer Profitman, who was successful at Chelmsford when last seen on December 5.

Another last-time-out winner in Parramount is backed to follow up in race six (7.00) as eight runners will take on the one mile and five furlong handicap in class four, with Charlie Longsdon’s runner taken to get the better of Optician, who was a course and distance second when last seen on November 23.

Equion had a productive Autumn for trainer Tony Carroll and was an excellent runner up at Newcastle last time out and goes from the same mark here in race seven (7.30) so should give another bold bid in the extended mile class five handicap, while the penultimate race (8.00) can head the way of Charmaine for trainer James Fanshawe, who made his third start a winning one at Kempton and was a better than the bare result fourth at Lingfield just over a month ago.

Finally, the action-packed card comes to a close with a class six handicap over the short six furlong trip (8.30) and preference in the finale heads the way of Bomb Squad, a course and distance winner that was a good second of 11 in a Newcastle handicap eight days ago and gets the nod ahead of Savalas, a winner of an 11-runner handicap at this track 35 days ago.
