The 56-year-old has jetted into the UK today to tie up the loose ends on the deal that will see him sign an 18-month contract at Molineux.

Pereira, who was in charge of Al Shabab in the Saudi Pro League, will replace Gary O’Neil who was sacked on Sunday with the club sitting 19th in the Premier League - and an announcement is expected soon.

Talks with Wolves have been progressing over the last few days and compensation has been agreed. It is understood he will bring his long-term assistant Luis Miguel with him. The pair have worked together at nine previous clubs.

He could meet the Wolves players as early as tomorrow with a huge Premier League game against Leicester on the horizon on Sunday.

As a manager, Pereira has won two league titles with FC Porto, before going on to win titles with Olympiacos in Greece and Shanghai SIPG in China.

Pereira was close to joining Everton back in 2022, and he will have a big job on his hands to keep a Wolves side who have conceded 40 goals so far this campaign.
