Midlands Snooker League round-up: Division One leaders Hotshots see 13-match unbeaten run end
Division One leaders Hotshots saw their 13-match unbeaten run ended after they were handed a 4-1 home defeat by defending champions Stafford Institute in the Midlands Snooker League.
Robert Wharne and Chris Ward propelled Stafford into a 2-0 lead before Faizan Mohammed halved the deficit for Hotshots. But Daniel Eaton-Lees sealed the win and Ian Duffy added a fourth frame.
Poets Corner cut the gap at the top to two points with a 4-1 success over Sedgley WMC courtesy of wins from Andy Tapper, Riley Parsons, Bal Sembi and Chris Jones.
Wednesfield Cons climbed into fourth with a 5-0 demolition of Sedgley Ex Service thanks to winning frames from Andy Price, Alan Hathaway, Joshua Walker, Dan Ward and Oliver Spooner.
Luke Higginbotham made an incredible 129 break as Hotshots B won 3-2 on the road at Landywood B while Shifnal WM A edged their B team 3-2 in a tight encounter.
Landywood A moved into sixth with a 4-1 triumph at Townsend Social thanks to winning frames from Jack Harris, Mick Stockley, Steve Barton and Robbie James.
Charlemont Bowling Club cruised to a 4-1 victory over Bilston Bowling Club with Milan Krstanovic, Daniel Ward, Ricky Sadler and Chris Compton collecting wins.
Elsewhere, rock bottom Bilston Sports & Social were condemned to a 12th defeat in 13 games as they fell to a 4-1 defeat at Baggeridge Social.
In Division Two, Stafford Institute B moved into third-place with a 3-2 victory over Golden Cue which included an excellent performance from Steve Holland, who made breaks of 40 and 30 to take his frame.
Poets H remain rooted to the foot of the table despite winning 3-2 at home to Pennfields A while Landywood D edged to a narrow 3-2 win over Electric.
Pennfields B continued their fight for promotion by beating Baggeridge Social B 3-2 after winning frames from Les Edmunds, Stuart Garrett and Tom Davis.
Essington WMC extended their lead at the top of Division Three to nine points with a 3-2 home victory over Charlemont B courtesy of wins from Stuart Smith, Stuart Hemming and David Munn.
Joe Hawkes hit a 53 break as his rock bottom Kingswinford side lost 3-2 at Bilston Sport & Social B and Simon Showell also posted a 53 break for Sedgley Ex Service C in their 3-2 victory over Electric C.
In Division Four, Beechdale beat league leaders Poets Corner F 3-2 and Darlaston were defeated by the same score line by Snooks.
Pelsall Social B moved 11 points clear at the top of Division Five with a comfortable 4-1 victory at Wednesfield RBL C.
In the Individual Championship, Spooner made an impeccable 119 to take the opener but could not prevent Richard Davies from storming to a 4-1 victory.
