Despite the public backing of Gary O'Neil in mid-week, Wolves fans have had enough and the players are yet to show they are up to the task. As a result of Saturday's disaster, O'Neil has now lost his job.

The importance of this Ipswich game cannot be understated and although Wolves were on top in the second half and could have easily won the fixture, they found a way to lose it at the death.

It was the shocking end to the game that sums up a shocking season. Ipswich did not win the game, Wolves lost it.

In front of a nervous home crowd, Wolves made a solid enough start against a side happy to sit in and bide their time.

But the story of the season has been their calamitous defence and once again they handed a goal to the opposition from nothing.

It should have been a relatively easy long-ball for Nelson Semedo to deal with, but he was bullied off the ball by Liam Delap and what happened next was a comedy of errors as the ball bounced off Matt Doherty before crossing the line.

Even before that goal the fans were chanting against chairman Jeff Shi and owners Fosun, and that discontent only grew after going behind in embarrassing circumstances.

Despite that, the hosts managed a second half resurgence. O'Neil's subs made a difference, in particular Tommy Doyle and Goncalo Guedes, and they got the fans back on side.
