Kim Billingham-Hine secures a hat-trick of winners as Monmore Green
Kim Billingham-Hine claimed a hat-trick of winners as Monmore Green hosted a special Greyhound Board of Great Britain Christmas Owners’ Bonus Series race meeting.
Thursday night at the Wolverhampton track saw a trophy presentation take place after each of the 12 races, with Billingham-Hine and connections taking to the podium after races five, six and seven on a highly successful evening for the handler based in Swindon, near Kingswinford.
Crossfield David took race five (A10) in fine style, prevailing by two-and-a-quarter lengths before Swift Quarter won by the same margin in race six (A5).
A first career triumph for sprinter Youre Gone in race seven (D4), having burst out of the traps and shown lovely early pace, was the icing on the cake.
Arguably the night’s standout performance, though, came from the Pat Doocey-trained Hilton Wolf who won a top grade A1 in a time of 28.40secs, four lengths clear of Ellie Field’s Cor Blimey.
Wilton Wolf made a very quick start and never looked being beaten as he ultimately enjoyed an all-the-way success.
Brian Thompson and Richie Taberner were both at the double, too.
Fab Farm Sid just got there first in a thrilling finish to race one for Thompson, with Swift Fagan victorious later in a similarly close-run affair.
Swift Fagan now has a whopping 14 wins to his name for 2024 and could well end the year as Monmore’s most prolific greyhound.
Taberner’s victors both came over the 630m stayers’ distance as Bangon Gadget showed the right tools to take race two (S4) before Serene Warrior did the business in race 10 (S2).
That was Serene Warrior’s first win over the extended trip.Wrapping up the night, Patrick Curtin’s Tromora Fifi, Craig Marston’s Good Melody, Chris Jones’ Winterfield May and Field’s Superstar Aria also took to the winners’ rostrum.
The GBGB Christmas Owners’ Bonus series is being staged at tracks across the country with Monmore also holding another full meeting with boosted prize money next Thursday.
Before then comes an entertaining card this evening and one to keep an eye out for is William Russell’s Magical Orlando in race four (D2).
Since Russell’s switch to Monmore from Perry Barr recently, Magical Orlando has taken to the track magnificently winning three times on the spin in recent weeks.
Those victories were over four bends, but he does tend to show good early pace and will hope to continue his hot streak over 264m.
