Tommy Simkin
Simkin sat out the EFL Trophy shoot-out success over Reading as Sam Hornby took centre stage with his penalty saving heroics. However, Stoke loanee Simkin has been the preferred choice in the league and has seven clean sheets to his name this term.
David Okagbue
Okagbue was another who received a rare rest in midweek and will be raring to resume his strong spell of form. The defender has not missed a minute in the league since replacing the injured Priestley Farquharson in a 1-0 defeat at Tranmere Rovers in August.
Harry Williams
Williams has clearly recovered from his concussion after returning to the side in recent weeks. He looked very much back to his best at Port Vale and was even named in the EFL's League Two team of the week.
Taylor Allen
Allen has played every minute in League Two since Walsall's 2-1 win over Mansfield Town in February and has a goal and an assist apiece in his last two league outings.
Ryan Stirk
Stirk has started every league game in the deep-lying role and continues to remain a vital cog in the system. He was rested in midweek too as Sadler looks to keep his troops fresh ahead of the festive fixtures.
Connor Barrett
Barrett was only handed a short cameo from the bench in midweek but has started every league game for the Saddlers this term.
The wing-back has not been able to add to his tally of five league assists over the past seven matches but remains a vital attacking outlet down the right.
George Hall
Hall continues to go from strength to strength after recovering from his injury issues to play a starring role over the past five games.
He scored his first goal for the club in a 3-0 win over Shrewsbury Town in the EFL Trophy last month and opened his league account in the 3-2 success over Notts County last week.
Charlie Lakin
Lakin's importance was perhaps highlighted most by his absence. Walsall severely missed him during their 2-2 draw against Bromley last month and he has been instrumental since his recall in recent games.
Liam Gordon
Gordon has been an ever-present in the Sadler era and only played the final 30 minutes against Reading. His introduction provided Walsall with an injection of energy down the left and he will likely return to the starting XI o n the weekend.
Nathan Lowe
Lowe emerged from the bench to get a vital flick to Reyes Cleary's cross and register his sixth assist of the season in all competitions for Danny Johnson's all-important equaliser on Tuesday.
The 19-year-old has scored nine goals in League Two this term including seven in his last nine outings.
Jamille Matt
Matt also sat out in midweek following his crucial match-winner against fellow promotion hopefuls Port Vale which propelled Walsall to the League Two summit last week.
He is poised to lead the line alongside Lowe once again as Walsall look to strengthen their grip on top spot.
