The attacker has not started for Carlos Corberan's side since November 1 and last featured as a substitute at Hull on November 10.

He has not featured since the international break which followed the win at Hull after complaining with calf discomfort on the eve of the home clash against Norwich.

Subsequent scans showed no sign of injury but Diangana was sent to see a specialist, who revealed damage in the nerve that has kept the DR Congo international sidelined.

The 26-year-old has missed four games since but trained on Monday and, should he come through Tuesday's session unscathed, then he will be considered for a place on the bench against the Sky Blues at The Hawthorns on Wednesday.

"We need to evaluate Diangana. He has trained today, so it is a positive thing, he has trained very well with the group," Corberan said in his press conference on Monday.

"We need to see how he reacts. If Diangana trains very well tomorrow then he can be one of the options to be on the bench."

Corberan referenced the influence Diangana had on his side's run to the play-offs last term. The former West Ham youngster, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has only started five of 19 league games so far this term due to a mixture of injury and form.

He missed a portion of pre-season with a calf injury and has had two separate shoulder injuries this term. Corberan said previously the attacker was feeling "cautious" with the pain due to the summer issue.

"If you analyse the players that last year helped us make the play-offs he was one of those with a massive impact in the team, in terms of goals and goal contributions, he was involved with many," added the head coach. "So with an injury at the beginning, no pre-season and with the African Cup, these numbers show the level of impact.

"So in the end it is true we need our best to help the team to win games."

Corberan also confirmed the Baggies need to assess the fitness of defender Kyle Bartley, midfielder Alex Mowatt, winger Mikey Johnston and striker Josh Maja, among others, for the Coventry clash given the busy run of fixtures and heavy load on some players who have either had knocks or have struggled to cope previously.

"It is impossible to evaluate on Monday!" Corberan added. "Because when they come normally they are fatigued, on Tuesday you have a better projection about how they are. You can only know of any injuries that moves them out of the squad.

"We need to see now how some players who did not play in a row in the last weeks how they are for the next game. Like Bartley, to see how he recovers, because it has been a long time since he played two games in a row. He is a player we have to evaluate.

"Johnston is a player we have to evaluate too. Maja is a player we have to evaluate too. Mowatt is a player we have to evaluate too, because maybe they have suffered in games we have in a row or they have had some (injury) problems like Bartley."
