Racing kicks off at 4,30pm with a division one novice stakes contest in class five before the card comes to a close four hours later at 8.30pm with a 12-runner handicap race in class six.

Race one of the evening sees a field of nine head to the stalls for the division novice stakes contest for two-year-old’s (4.30). A repeat of the form Sundiata Keita showed at Newcastle last time out could well be enough for him to make it third time lucky for trainer Richard Fahey and belatedly get off the winning mark. Of his rivals, Sun Keeper rates the next back as he is open to plenty of progress following an OK sixth of nine in a course and distance contest last time out.

The second race on Wolverhampton’s card (5.00) is in division two of the same discipline at the opener, with preference heading the way of Sunlit Uplands, who caught the eye for trainer Rae Guest when finishing second with a bit in hand on debut at Chelmsford 37 days ago so has to be considered the one to beat here.

Twelve runners will tackle the one mile and one furlong novice stakes at 5.30 and Edge Of The Unknown holds leading claims in this one for trainer George Boughey, a ready winner of a 12-runner contest at Newcastle 30 days ago and should have more to offer heading to the midlands, while race four on the day (6.00) can go the way of No Surrender for the Ed Dunlop team, a good second of nine at Lingfield 18 days ago and is back up in trip here so could well be the way to go.

Course and distance winner Asgard’s Captain has a good all-weather record and he is the selection in the one mile and one one furlong class four handicap at 6.30 for trainer Dylan Cunha and bag a fifth win of the year, while three-time course and distance victor Chalk Mountain rates the best bet in race six (7.00), with this drop down in trip to seven furlongs very much in his favour after a rare poor outing at Southwell when last seen.

A field of 12 will tackle the one mile trip for the class five handicap (7.30) and another multiple course and distance winner in Harbour Vision could complete a Wolverhampton hat trick by landing the spoils here having landed a pair of victories at this track last month. Ciotog heads the list of dangers however, another who knows where the winning post at this track for trainer David Loughnane and was also a good second here 22 days ago so should go well again.

Moe's Legacy looks the way to go in the penultimate race of the day (8.00) a previous course and distance winner that is taken to bounce back from a below-par outing at Lingfield on his last spin but had showed good order before that, and in the finale of the evening (8.30) Come On John is the selection to get the job done having shown plenty of promise since joining the James Owen yard including a win at Southwell in October.
