Carlos Corberan on a need for West Brom "responsibility"

Saturday's 1-1 draw at struggling Preston was greeted by boos from the travelling faithful as Corberan's men clocked up a ninth draw in 10 games.

The sequence has yielded just a single victory in 12 games for the Baggies, who were unable to build on Karlan Grant's excellent opener at Deepdale.

Corberan said in the wake of the draw he understood and respected the frustration from the away end, who also voiced their disapproval as the Spaniard took off top scorer Josh Maja, five minutes from time.

"One hundred per cent," Corberan replied when asked about a disappointed dressing room.

"That's the thing that we can do, to take responsibility with the way that we have to change."

Corberan stressed that his motivation and work ethic to arrest Albion's slump is "exactly the same" to the tireless level of work and detail he gives in his role.

"Exactly the same," added the head coach. "My motivation is always to work to win the games and I know the difficulty we are having to win the games."

Preston responded from a below-par first half with an attacking substitution, while Corberan's change at the break switched Albion from a back four to back five.

And the Baggies failed to respond after the break. Preston already passed up an opportunity before frontman Emil Riis lashed in while unopposed from range.

Albion eventually responded but struggled to created much of note in the hunt of a winner.

Corberan saw an improvement in his side from the midpoint of the second period, where Callum Styles entered at left wing-back and Jayson Molumby came into midfield.

"I saw a clear improvement," he said. "Styles has the habit to defend as a wing-back and Molumby with the duels in the middle of the pitch helped the team a lot to be more aggressive and go forward more."
