The new Pitmen boss who was appointed last week led Hedneford to victory against Trafford last Saturday before an 8-1 thrashing of Clitheroe midweek.

Hurren’s side showed no mercy in front of goal to rise to seventh in the Northern One West table and within two points of the play-offs.

Entering what is Hednesford’s second of a series of four home matches in a row, the new Hednesford boss, and former Pitmen player, is hoping to continue making Keys Park a place that nobody wants to visit.

“The place is a fortress, the fans are what makes this football club,” said Hurren. “It doesn’t matter if you win, lose or draw, nobody wants to come to Hednesford and when we are playing well and that train starts moving it’s only going to get better."

Hurren added on his appointment as manager: “I’m immensely proud

“It's a club I've got big affiliations with, and as soon as Hednesford showed interest for me, it was just a no brainer.

“After meeting with the chairman of his wife, it sealed it for me. So for me, if I can give my best and do what I can to hopefully get this club climbing the pyramid that's what I'm gonna do.

“We’ve got to be competing. Already there is a squad assembled that I believe can do that.

“It's all about the environment, we've got to make it a real positive environment because, it's not going be go all our own way, and when the times get tough, we've got to stick to our values and our principles and just keep on moving forward

“It's not always going to be rosy. And if you think that, you're far from it, football has got a tendency to bring you down, but you can't have too many lows and you can't have the highs too high.”

As well as ambitions to be the best on the pitch and push towards the top of the table, Hednesford owners Craig and Amanda Gwilt have also moved to heavily invest and improve ground facilities at Keys Park.

This week, a scoreboard was installed at the club, adding to a new two-storey suite that has been erected, and work is on-going to install solar panels on the roof of the club’s main, seated, stand.

Meanwhile, league rivals Stafford Rangers return to action after postponement last weekend.

Dale Belford’s struggling side welcome basement boys City of Liverpool while Chasetown go to Wythenshawe looking to bounce back from two league defeats in a row.

In the Northern One Midlands, fourth-placed Sporting Khalsa host Shepshed Dynamo while fifth-placed Darlaston Town are looking to continue their excellent start to the season welcoming Coleshill, and Lye Town entertain Anstey Nomads.
