Okagbue registered his second assist of the season after setting up Nathan Lowe's match-winner in Walsall's 1-0 win at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday to guide them into second spot in League Two.

The defender was handed his Republic of Ireland under-21 debut during the international break as he starred in a 3-2 victory over Sweden in an international friendly in Marbella.

And boss Sadler was delighted to see him to receive international recognition after impressing at Walsall over the past 18 months.

He said: "I love working with Dave. He's an incredible young adult. We just keep working hard and he does exactly that.

"He turns up day in, day out, and game in, game out. It's always a good starting point when you have that and he has got good ability to go with it.

"Him and Connor (Barrett) have had a good relationship together. Dave is a real diamond of a kid so I'm glad he's got some recognition at international level because I don't think there could be too many better centre-backs in that set-up."

Okagbue, who re-joined Walsall on a two-year deal in the summer, recently surpassed 50 appearances for the club across all competitions.

The 20-year-old has racked up 20 appearances in total this term including 14 in League Two and has played every minute since being introduced in a 1-0 defeat at Tranmere Rovers in August.
