It was not the victory craved to end a tough run of form at home, but it felt like progress at The Hawthorns.

Carlos Corberan's Albion may now be winless in five games at their home, where they have been so strong in recent years, but at least the excitement factor returned in the Black Country.

It is now four home draws on the spin, but at least it is not four 0-0s in a row. The stalemates had been painful, even though Corberan has stressed the value of a point in this tight division.

Heading into Saturday's clash against the Canaries - who despite unavailability have a much, much better squad than 13th suggests - it had been nigh-on 400 minutes since the home faithful last celebrated a goal.

The mood was lifted before the international break by a narrow win at Hull, a first victory in nine games, but there remained work to be done to right recent home wrongs.

It was almost exactly 400 minutes since Albion's last home goal, in the 1-0 win over Plymouth on September 21, when Mason Holgate flicked in to open the scoring. An unlikely scorer from an unlikely route - a corner. Albeit one taken short and then delivered.

The first half then went pretty bonkers. The hosts struggled at 1-0 up and Norwich netted a decent equaliser. The Baggies were better at 1-1 and asked questions but some lovely combination play led to Torbjorn Heggem's own goal before the interval. Canaries top scorer Borja Sainz, showing why he is rated as the division's best player, was instrumental.
