The former Leeds man, who has played more than 200 times for the Baggies, has not featured since the 1-1 draw against Oxford last month due to a knee problem.
But Corberan has confirmed the experienced defender was back in training ahead of Albion's game against Norwich this weekend.
He did warn the clash against the Canaries would be too soon for him, with the plan being to involve him at Preston.
However, there is an outside chance he could make it for their game against Sunderland on Tuesday night in Wearside.
He said: "He is close. He is very close. He has been working with the team and tomorrow (Friday) he will do part of it too.
"Let’s see. Normally, he should be ready for Preston, the third game we are going to play this week, so he is not going to be ready for this weekend.
"The target is to be ready for next weekend. I am very happy with how I saw him. If he completes the training on Sunday and Monday completely with the group, it is a possibility for Tuesday.
"But the target was the weekend, not during the week. One thing is the target, and another is his reaction.
"For me, the most important thing is that when he comes back with the group he stays with the group, not that he comes back and moves out again."
Gianluca Frabotta missed out against Hull City last time out through injury, but Corberan revealed he is in contention for a place in the squad.
"He has been training during the international break," the boss continued. "The normal training sessions.
"So it is true that he is one player we have had, and if he is OK in training on Friday, then he will be in the squad.
"And Deago Nelson was the player from the under-21s who was involved instead of him (against Hull)."
Paddy McNair, out with a hamstring problem, is due back in the last week of December, while Daryl Dike and Semi Ajayi are due back in January and March, respectively.
