Jellis has started 13 of Walsall's first 14 games in League Two this term and still played the final 20 minutes in their 2-2 draw at Chesterfield last month despite struggling with illness in the build-up.

The 23-year-old, who arrived from non-league Tamworth in January, has scored three goals in his last five starts across all competitions.

He has struck up a particularly strong partnership with Connor Barrett down the right with the pair playing a key role in Walsall's stellar form in both the league and cup competitions.

The Saddlers have propelled themselves into second spot with 27 points from their opening 14 league games and Gordon feels Jellis has been instrumental to Walsall's early success.

"JJ has been unbelievable. I was defending against him in training the other day and just his runs that he does especially when Taylor is on the ball with the diagonals into that area," Gordon said.

"It's unbelievable. It's so hard to track his runs because it kind of takes out the centre-half and the wing-back or the full-back.

"Him and Connor (Barrett) have just dominated that side. They've got a really good connection and we've seen across the season just how powerful those two are on that side.

"Hopefully that just continues and we keep on serving them as best as we can and we'll get joy from it both sides."
