Wolves travel to face their West Midlands Premier Division opponents in fine form, as they sit top of the National League Northern Premier Division.

Coventry have failed to win in six games in their league so far this season, but McNamara is not underestimating them and insists his side are desperate to get back to winning ways in the cup after losing the final on penalties to Rugby Borough last season.

“We will focus on Coventry Sphinx," McNamara said.

“They have got some good players, Kirsty Farnsworth I can remember her, she used to terrorise us a fair few years ago in tier four.

“As always, we’ve got to stay switched on.

“I don’t know yet whether we will do too much rotation, we might do.

“Make no mistake that whoever we put out will be ready to go.

“This is a competition we want to do well in. Ultimately, we want to try and get that County Cup back."

Among a youthful but impressive group at Wolves, McNamara is full of praise for captain Anna Morphet for how she is developing as a leader.

He added: “She is slowly growing into that captain role.

“At a young age Anna has stuff to learn, of course she has.

“But the way she is leading this group is fantastic.

“Whether that is communicating and giving feedback to me or telling me to shut up! Or whether it’s handing out instructions to the girls.

“She is doing fantastically well.

“Beyond Anna as well there are four leaders, and they lead in different ways.

“Again, I think Tammi has been excellent and you can see her lead in a different type of way.

“Not vocally, but you see her lead with tenacity, she gets after the ball and wins the first and second balls.

“Hopefully the leadership can continue coming from more areas.”
