Joyce was shown a red card after a touchline melee in stoppage time, which also saw Crewe boss Lee Bell and Walsall defender Liam Gordon receive bookings.

Joyce and Hill allegedly acted in an "improper manner" during the incident and have until November 18 to respond to the charge.

An FA statement read: "Walsall's kitman and pitch side announcer have been charged with misconduct at their EFL League Two fixture against Crewe Alexandra on Saturday, November 9.

"It's alleged that David Joyce and Simon Hill acted in an improper manner around the 98th minute, and both of them have until November 18 to respond."

Omar Bogle had opened the scoring for Crewe in the 66th minute before Nathan Lowe equalised five minutes from time.
