Albion headed to Hull looking to end a barren eight game winless run that had seen them slip out of the play-off spots - following a blistering start to the campaign.

And they did just as Karlan Grant fired Albion into the lead after just 12 minutes - with Josh Maja then doubling the advantage just five minutes later.

Joao Pedro then headed Hull back into the game before the break - with Albion then having to soak up big spells of pressure in the second half as the Tigers went in search of ending their own winless streak.

However, Albion held firm to grind out a much needed victory, their first since September 21, that ended their rocky patch and lifted them back up to fifth.

Corberan was delighted his side weren't made to suffer the consequences of missed chances - as they have done in previous weeks.

He explained: "The second goal was a second phase of a set piece, and we had the accuracy today to score two from two chances.

"That is football and today we had the possibility to use our opportunities and not suffer the consequences from missing chances."

In the first half, Albion showed more attacking intent in the opening 40 minutes, with Grant playing as a second striker and summer signing Mikey Johnston putting in his best display since returning to the club.

And although their work in the final third was better that in recent weeks - their defending again stood out as one of the main positives as they had to overcome waves of pressure from the Tigers.

Albion's head coach admitted after the game that Hull didn't deserve to lose the game given the way they played on the day - with the Tigers hitting the bar and having dangerous spells of pressure.

However, Corberan pointed to his side's 'mentality' and their 'resilience' as the two key factors that helped to win them the game, and end their winless run.

"I am very satisfied with the mentality of my team today," explained the Spaniard.

"I think I liked more the way we pressed than how we attacked.

"If I go into it tactically, we didn't manage well the recoveries of the ball, because at some point when we recover the ball we were giving the ball to them and they were attacking.

"When you do that with a team with good players, they can make you suffer.

"We didn't have a lack of accuracy today, we used our chances well and I liked the mentality of my time."They played well in some good second half moments, and we were very resilient to win the game."
