Tommy Simkin 7 (Quiet)

Beaten by a clinical finish from Omar Bogle but otherwise had very little to do between the sticks throughout the 90 aside from Crewe's opener.

David Okagbue 7 (Assured)

Buoyed by his recent Republic of Ireland under-21s call-up, Okagbue produced an assured performance on the right of the back-three.

Donervon Daniels 7 (Solid)

Recalled in the absence of the injured Harry Williams for his first competitive start of the campaign and fared well with a solid overall performance.

Taylor Allen 7 (Mixed)

Provided a threat going forward with his overlapping runs although he was unable to track Bogle's run in the build-up to Crewe's goal.

Ryan Stirk 6 (Indifferent)

Battled well and was tidy in possession in the first half but struggled after the break and was guilty of giving away a couple of sloppy passes.

Connor Barrett 7 (Marshalled)

Proved a fruitful outlet down the right in the first half but saw his threat reduced by Max Conway who marshalled him expertly especially after the break.

Jamie Jellis 7 (Challenging)

Combined well with Barrett on a couple of occasions in the first half but it never quite clicked for the midfielder although that was not down to a lack of effort.

Charlie Lakin 6 (Faded)

Showed flashes of his quality in the first half but faded after the break as he was replaced just past the hour.

Liam Gordon 8 (Menace)

Was arguably Walsall's standout player. His driving runs proved a menace and he came close with a low effort which he dragged just wide of the target after the restart.

Jamille Matt 6 (Difficult)

Marshalled relatively well by the Crewe defence and headed a rare chance well wide of the target just past the half-hour mark.

Nathan Lowe 8 (Decisive)

Extended his season tally to nine goals across all competitions with a ruthless finish to salvage a point. The teenager was silky on the ball and provided a key attacking outlet with his back to goal.

Substitutes

Helped create overloads down the left following his introduction just past the hour as Walsall applied late pressure in search of an equaliser.

Enjoyed another instrumental cameo from the bench as he set-up Lowe's leveller with a perfectly weighted through ball.

Picked out Hall in the build-up to Lowe's equaliser and dragged two defenders away with an intelligent run down the right.

Not used: Hornby, McEntee.
