It was Halesowen’s third league victory in a row to see them level on points with Kettering Town at the top of the table.

Welcoming AFC Sudbury tomorrow, boss Russell Penn wants to see his side continue their goalscoring form.

Asked how pleased he was with the win midweek, Penn said: “I’m over the moon.

“It’s always a tricky fixture because it’s so far away We were excellent from start to finish and thoroughly deserved the five goals that we got. I’m disappointed that we didn’t get more to be honest

“It was tiring. I think all the players and staff have had a couple of hours sleep.

I got back at 3.45am before and was straight to work that morning.

“But we’ve got to recover for another big game.

“I know how important momentum is in football. We’re not only getting the results though, we’ve played really well in the last three games.

“We’re scoring goals now which is great and found our formula that’s working for us.

But, it’s another tough challenge on Saturday.”

Penn will face his former side Kidderminster Harriers on November 16 when Halesowen visit Aggborough in the FA Trophy second round.

The Yeltz boss will go with his attacking options in fine form after Kieren Donnelly netted a hat-trick in the convincing win over Lowestoft.

Penn believes that him facing new and unknown teams in the Southern Central Premier is an advantage for him, and is hoping to continue putting the pressure on those around him.

“That’s all we can focus on,” said Penn. “We’ve got the home advantage a lot in November.

“We look forward to the home comforts of trying to win on our own patch over the next few weeks.

“I don’t know too much about the teams at the level which is good for me because I don’t disrespect anybody.

“I think anyone who turns up at the Grove when we have a good crowd gives that extra ten per cent and we’ve got to be on our mettle for that.”

League rivals Stourbridge, who sit only three points behind the Yeltz in eighth, are looking to claim their first win in two when they host Halesowen’s midweek opponents Lowestoft.

After seeing the Yeltz put five past the East Suffolk side, boss Liam McDonald will hope for his Glassboys to go on and do the same as they target the play-off spots that are just one point away.

In the National League North, basement boys Rushall Olympic welcome visit relegation-threatened Radcliffe as they sit five points adrift of safety.

Adam Stevens’ side followed up their FA Cup heartbreak from last weekend with a 1-1 draw at Needham Market on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Kidderminster Harriers are eyeing up top-spot after a slender 1-0 victory over fellow play-off hopefuls Curzon Ashton on Wednesday. Phil Brown’s side host Farley Celtic tomorrow.
