Carlos Corberan is a very familiar figure at The Hawthorns by this point.

The Spaniard, 41, recently marked two years in charge at Albion and there are not many in the Championship to have managed longer at the helm of their respective clubs.

In fact, in the wake of Coventry City's shock decision to pull the plug on Mark Robins, only two bosses have been in post longer than Corberan.

Robins, a legendary modern-day figure after cup and promotion heroics with the Sky Blues, was sacked on Thursday with his side down in 17th from 14 Championship fixtures.

City lost at home to Derby on Wednesday night but before that had beaten both Luton and Middlesbrough.

Robins won promotion from League Two to the Championship with City, as well as EFL Trophy Wembley success and an FA Cup semi-final at the national stadium, where a late VAR intervention robbed the Sky Blues of a showpiece final.

The decision to end Robins' seven-and-a-half years tenure has Corberan third - and only behind second by a whisker - in the division's long-standing reckoning.

Leading the way from the mantle left by Robins is a relatively new figure to the second tier, Derby boss Paul Warne. Warne sampled second-tier experience in a lengthy stint at Rotherham before taking the Rams job in September 2022, a month before Albion's appointment.

Warne has since guided County back to the Championship and has his side sitting in 13th. Albion head to Pride Park on Boxing Day.

Next up, edging Corberan into third place, is Boro boss Michael Carrick. Carrick was appointed at the Riverside Stadium just one day before the Baggies unveiled their new boss in October 2022.

Prior to Albion's fixture against Burnley on Thursday night both clubs sit on the same number of points, in seventh and eighth, with Albion's goal difference advantage and one game fewer. Eighth was also where Carrick's men finished last term.

Corberan's 743 days at The Hawthorns, of which the recent winless run is the toughest spell, is a month longer than Rob Edwards at Luton. Portsmouth's John Mousinho makes up the top five with Daniel Farke at Leeds a distant sixth.

There is another milestone on the agenda for The Hawthorns head coach this week with action set to pause for a third the international break in as many months.

Corberan clocks up his 100th game in charge of the Baggies at Hull on Sunday. The MKM Stadium side are struggling down in 18th under head coach Tim Walter. The last Albion boss to clock up a century was Tony Pulis.
