West Brom 0 Burnley 0: Startling stats as winless run goes on

Albion's painful wait for a home goal reached six-and-a-half hours as Burnley held the hosts to yet another Hawthorns stalemate.

A third goalless draw in four games on their home patch for Carlos Corberan's side extended a measly record, the joint-worst in the top four divisions, to just two goals scored in seven home fixtures this season.

The run without a victory in the Championship is now eight matches after a sixth draw in a row - and Burnley and their boss Scott Parker were seething after a second-half header by Jaidon Anthony was ruled out by referee Tom Nield for what appeared a soft foul.

The out-of-form Clarets also struck a post. Albion supporters must be wondering where their value for money is at The Hawthorns with just three goals in seven games this season - two for and one against.

Boss Corberan will not take much pleasure from six games unbeaten as his shot-shy, blunt side simply cannot find a breakthrough at the moment with attacks too ponderous and decision-making badly lacking. Some boos greeted the half-time and full-time whistle.

John Swift - one of three Albion changes along with Jayson Molumby and Tom Fellows - volleyed a decent opening well over the top after just four minutes from Darnell Furlong's deep cross.

Alex Palmer reacted well to a dangerous cross at the other end to save from close-quarters before Torbjorn Heggem saw out Zian Flemming.

Mason Holgate's header from Furlong's long throw-in was just too strong for Josh Maja before visiting left-back Lucas Pires flashed wide from range.

The hosts were indebted to Palmer for his fine low one-v-one stop from former Baggies loanee Jeremy Sarmiento after he was let in by Swift's blind pass.

Albion cranked it up before the break as Karlan Grant saw a couple of shots blocked by defenders. Albion lacked the conviction in their efforts at goal as come half-time the agonizing wait for a home goal extended.

The second half delivered little change until the visitors enjoyed a spell around the hour and a flashpoint arrived.

Lively left-back Pires' cross was met by the head of Anthony, who might've joined the Baggies in the summer but ended up at Turf Moor, and beat Palmer at his post. Anthony turned away to celebrate in front of the away end but referee Nield blew for a foul for an apparent push in the back of Styles. Replays showed Albion to be very fortunate.

Moments later Pires struck the foot of the left post with Palmer rooted.

Corberan rolled the dice after the hour with Mikey Johnston, Lewis Dobbin and Uros Racic introduced. An Albion siege didn't come as nobody was on hand to turn home a fine low Grant cross.

Chances were at a premium in the closing stages with decision-making and quality lacking.

Burnley's Josh Cullen flicked a near-post header wide across goal with 10 minutes left and it was as good as it got for either side on a painful evening.
