Mat Sadler pleased to see Walsall loanee Douglas James-Taylor acquire "fan favourite" status at Drogheda United
Mat Sadler has been pleased to see Walsall loanee Douglas James-Taylor acquire "fan favourite" status at Drogheda United.
James-Taylor has scored 12 goals and set-up three more in 18 appearances across all competitions for the Drogs.
The 22-year-old has scored six in four outings to help propel Drogheda to the FAI Cup final where they'll face Derry City at the Aviva Stadium tomorrow.
Attentions will then turn to Drogheda's League of Ireland relegation play-off tie against Bray Wanderers the following Saturday and Sadler insists both games will be followed closely by everyone in the Walsall camp.
He said: "Two wonderful games for him to experience before the close of the season. Both will be keenly watched by everyone here. There are a load of staff going to the game on Sunday.
"We wish him well. He has had a great loan and done really well. He's become a bit of crowd favourite up there. I've seen some videos of him going into schools to real acclaim.
"I love the fact that he's had this experience and fingers crossed it can capped off by two positive results in the next two games."
The striker will return to Essington during the off-season although his loan with the Irish outfit does not expire until July 1.
Co-chairman Ben Boycott also confirmed at the latest fan forum last month that if the Walsall were to recall him then they would need to do so on January 1 due to it being an international transfer.
