Wolverhampton pair guide England to double Masters Hockey World Cup success
England scooped two golds at the 2024 Masters World Cup in Cape Town in the Over 65 and Over 75 category in October.
Balkar Singh Jawanda, from Compton Park in Wolverhampton, finished as the leading scorer in the Over-65s with eight goals in seven games.
England drew 2-2 against Netherlands in the final and secured glory with a 2-1 penalty shoot-out victory.
They had gone unbeaten throughout the entire competition and kept a clean sheet in every game barring the final.
In the group stage, England beat New Zealand (4-0), Wales (6-0) and Spain (3-0) before drawing 0-0 against Australia.
They cruised to a 6-0 demolition of Ireland in the quarter-finals and eased to a 3-0 victory over Australia in the semi-finals.
Jawanda said: "I've been playing since I was 40 and now I'm 65. We played seven games and we didn't lose a single game.
"People may look at the ages that people are still carrying on playing at a high standard and it may inspire somebody. Especially because we've got three hockey clubs in Wolverhampton."
German Singh, also from Wolverhampton, was part of the Over-75 squad which clinched gold in South Africa.
Singh helped secure a double success for England they emerged with a 3-0 victory over Australia in the final.
After drawing their opening game 1-1 against Australia, the over-75s beat Southern Cross and South Africa 3-0 and 8-0 respectively before knocking out Wales (7-0) and Germany (1-0) in the quarter-finals and semi-finals.
