Italian Frabotta, the summer signing from Juventus, has yet to start a Championship fixture for his new club and at times has struggled to make Carlos Corberan's matchday squad.

But Frabotta's importance has grown in the last couple of weeks given a plethora of injuries to the Baggies' backline which have forced a reshuffle for the head coach.

Albion bid to end their winless run of form against promotion-challengers Burnley at The Hawthorns on Thursday night and Corberan hopes to have Frabotta, 25, at least among his substitutes with Callum Styles, another summer recruit, given the nod at left-back last time out.

"Frabotta couldn't train today because he felt something in the groin in the adductor which didn't allow him to train," Corberan said at his press conference on Tuesday.

"Hopefully he is better on Wednesday and he can train to be ready and involved because we are in a situation without many defenders.

"From the previous game that is the only update I will tell you because the other situation we have are long-term injuries."

Central defenders Kyle Bartley, Paddy McNair and Semi Ajayi were recently ruled out for periods ranging from six weeks to four months.

The Baggies are without a win in seven games and have drawn their last five matches on the spin ahead of the visit of Scott Parker's Clarets.

"When you don't win football is always a challenging moment that challenges everyone," Corberan said.

"It is probably easier to come as a player when everything is working perfect, probably you have a better mood and more confidence, maybe, that you can keep winning games.

"But in football and in life you have to give the right answer when winning, losing or drawing, you need to face the challenge in front of you. That's why I never believe in expectation, never ever, from a positive or negative.

"I think we need to be stable analysing the good things and bad things, trying to be the most competitive team we can be."
