The Saddlers knocked out third-tier opponents Bolton Wanderers after goals from Liam Gordon and Jamie Jellis secured a memorable 2-1 victory at Bescot on Saturday.

That booked Walsall's place in the second round of the competition for the fourth successive season. Here's everything you need to know ahead of the next round later this month.

The tie will take place between November 29 to 2 December.

Televised fixtures will be announced in due course. They were confirmed five days after the draw last season.

Walsall banked £45,000 in prize money for progressing beyond the first round. The winner of their second round tie will pocket £75,000 while the losers will take home £20,000.

Charlton secured their passage into the second round with a dramatic stoppage time winner in extra-time in a rollercoaster 4-3 victory at Southend United.

In the league, Nathan Jones' charges made a bright start to the season with wins in each of their opening three games.

The Addicks pulled off a monumental 1-0 win over League One leaders Birmingham City in early October but have since drawn three matches on the spin against Stockport County, Barnsley and Wrexham respectively.

In total, Charlton have collected 19 points from their opening 13 league games and sit 12th-place in the table.

The Portuguese frontman opened the scoring inside five minutes with a delightful effort into the far top corner.

He added a second just before the hour after rounding Charlton goalkeeper Dean Kiely to tap into an empty net.

Jimmy Walker denied Graham Stuart with an excellent penalty save before the Charlton man redeemed himself to half the deficit 21 minutes from time.
