Walsall have confirmed that Harry Williams has been released from hospital following his nasty collision during Saturday's 2-1 win over Bolton Wanderers in the FA Cup.

The medical staff were quick to attend to Williams after his collision with the advertising hoardings but he returned to his feet with a bloodied head to be replaced by club captain Donervon Daniels.

Mat Sadler revealed after the game that the defender had gone to hospital in the immediate aftermath of the incident as he sent his best wishes.

Jamie Jellis and Liam Gordon also offered support for their teammate post-match and the club have since issued a positive update stating that Williams has suffered "no further internal damage".

Walsall will now follow the concussion protocol although any timeframe on his absence remains unclear.

The club statement read: "We can confirm that defender Harry Williams has been released from hospital, with scans confirming no further internal damage.

"The club will now follow concussion protocol to ensure H (Harry) gets the best care possible. H would like to thank everyone for their well wishes and support shown."
