Damon Rees continued his fine form for the Brownhills-based Astro JJR team, securing two more top five finishes, which leaves him third in the National Superstock 1000 series.

And his team-mate and fellow New Zealander, Shane Richardson, enjoyed his best outing of the series so far, claiming an eighth and a 13th, rising to 16th in the same championship.

Michael Rutter and his Black Country-based Bathams Racing were finally back in action – having missed the previous round entirely – with BSB star Dan Linfoot, who claimed two top 10 finishes, stepping in for the injured Dan Cooper.

Cannock-based Rich Energy OMG Racing rider Billy McConnell continued his fine form in the National Superstock 1000 series, taking a ninth and fourth, which leaves the Aussie one place behind Rees in the standings.

Rees said: "I’m really happy with my results this round. I had never ridden Silverstone before Friday and made consistent progress throughout the weekend.

"And the best part is, I remain third in the championship going into round four at Oulton Park.

"I truly can’t thank the Astro JJR team enough for their tireless work this weekend."

Bathams Racing was finally able to get its campaign back on track following a month of accidents, uncertainty and injuries.

Brierley Hill-born Rutter was forced to withdraw the entire team from round two of the British Superbike series after his star rider, Cooper, badly broke his leg following a horror crash during the opening round.

Rutter again opted to sit the weekend out at Silverstone so he could focus all his attention on Linfoot, rather than racing alongside his new team-mate in the same class.

He said: “Obviously P10 and P9 isn't exactly a dazzling set of results on paper, but this weekend was all about getting Dan comfortable on the bike and up to speed, which we have absolutely achieved, so on balance I'm actually very satisfied with the weekend.

"Dan has slotted into the team really well, and we're all really looking forward to working with him for the next three rounds."

OMG Racing was also well represented in the British Superbike class, with a strong start from Luke Mossey seeing him overtake Brad Ray before a sweeping move to pass 2019 title contender Josh Brookes.

Unfortunately, a mistake at the end of the Wellington Straight led to Mossey running wide, dropping him back just ahead of team-mate Hector Barbera, who had slipped to 13th.

The two worked together to close the gap to the riders ahead and capitalised on tyre wear for the riders ahead to take advantage, with Mossey again able to pass Ray on the final lap to claim 11th.

Mossey made another superb start off the line in race two, moving from 10th to eighth, challenging Christian Iddon by the end of the first lap, before being forced to retire.

Barbera found himself momentarily back to 18th but some fine riding later saw him hunting down Peter Hickman, Brad Vickers and Iddon for a place in the top 10.

Some excellent racecraft from the former Moto GP star brought him into contention and with two laps to spare he made the move on Ducati's Iddon into Brooklands, crossing the line in 10th.

Mossey recovered to take 10th in race two with Barbera close behind in 12th, leaving them 12th and 14th in the championship respectively.

Seventeen-year-old Storm Stacey claimed the first BSB point of fledgling career in race three, finishing 15th, which was backed up with impressive 16th and 17th places in the opening two encounters.

The Hednesford-based Wigley twins enjoyed mixed fortunes in British Supersport and GP2 classes at Silverstone.

On the opening lap of the race, Kurt’s exhaust split open but after establishing his bike could still be ridden he battled to secure 10th in class on his Sorrymate.com Racing Yamaha while challenging for eighth.

Matt's GP2 machine ran into some much greater mechanical issues but he still managed to secure 11th in race one.

More bad luck followed in race two as Kurt was then forced to retire due to an electrical fault, while Matt claimed a seventh.

The results leave 24-year-old Kurt 13th in the supersport standings, with Matt 11th in the GP2 class.

Teenage stars Ben Taylor, from Kidderminster, and Willenhall's Mcauley Longmore were in good form over the weekend in the British Junior Supersport series.

Taylor enjoyed his best round of the 2020 campaign, claiming a 20th and 24th, with Longmore finishing 19th and 29th,

Josh Hiatt, 16, from Heath Hayes, was forced to miss British Talent Cup round due to a back injury.
