Fixtures across the Premier League and EFL have been suspended until April 30, extended from an initial ban until April 3, following the spiralling coronavirus pandemic in the UK.

The governing bodies have insisted they are intent on finishing this season, despite its future being thrown into doubt as the April 30 return could yet be extended further.

Of the 3,987 Wolves fans that took part in the Express & Star survey, a majority of 64 per cent believe the current league table should stand as the final table, if the season cannot be finished.

This means the club would finish sixth, above Sheffield United on goal difference, despite having played a game more than them.

On that same question, 24 per cent preferred the season was deemed null and void, while 12 per cent voted Liverpool should be crowned champions but that no teams were relegated.

Meanwhile, Albion fans are eager to see the season completed as they aim for promotion back to the Premier League.

Of those that took part in the poll, an overwhelming 75 per cent would welcome playing games behind closed doors to ensure that the season was completed.

In the same vein, 88 per cent said they would scrap this season’s and next season’s cup competitions to allow more time to finish the league.

Albion currently sit second in the Championship, one point behind leaders Leeds, and are on the verge of promotion with nine games left to play.

According to the poll results, Villa fans believe the current downtime without fixtures could prove beneficial for their players currently sidelined.

Tom Heaton and Wesley were both previously ruled out for the remainder of the season, while John McGinn hasn’t played since December.

Sixty-nine per cent believe the delay in the season could help them as they battle to survive in the Premier League.

Despite languishing in mid-table, the Walsall players have put on several memorable moments this season and of those that took part in the poll, 77 per cent of them insist their memories from the current League Two season would not be tarnished if this campaign could not be completed.
