Police fail to arrest Baggeridge’s title charge
Baggeridge Social A have stolen a march on their Stourbridge League title rivals after seeing off West Midlands Police.
Victories from Eliott Bastable, Justin Donoghue, Maria Catalano and Reanne Evans secured Social a 4-1 win at home to the Police and saw them move three points clear in the race for the Premier Division title.
Amblecote Institute A had been joint leaders, but they slipped to a 3-2 defeat at Brandhall Labour.
Stuart Perry, Paul Caldeira and Andy Round, in the decider, won for Brandhall, with Ash Sidaway and Rob Clark consolidating their places at the top of the ‘most wins’ placings with comfortable victories for the visitors.
Hotshots SC A joined Amblecote in a share of second place thanks to a 4-1 win at Kingswinford Cons C – Jamie Brown impressing with a break of 45.
Norton Social A’s challenge faltered on their own tables when Pockets SC A fought back from 2-0 down to take the match 3-2, thanks to Rich Pepperall, Andy Smith and John Betton.
Townsend Social, the defending champions, although rather too far adrift to figure this season, kept up the pressure on the top five with a 4-1 win away to Hotshots B. Jamie Spence, Darrell Payne and Phil and Dave Thompson won for them after Chad Howell had given the hosts a good start.
Norton Social B returned to the top of the First Division following a quick-fire double.
They won their rearranged match away to Baggeridge Social B 4-1 and then followed that up with with a 3-2 success at Old Edwardians A.
Norton Social B returned to the top of the First Division, where they have now established a two point lead: Andy and Tony Brown won both of their frames.
The previous joint leaders, Kinver Constitutional A, lost 3-2 in a closely-fought game against their C team, who edged two points above them into second place.
Adam Sprague, with a 43 break, Tom Postings and Gregg Reece, in the decider, clinched a fifth successive victory for the C side.
There’s just another point back to the fourth-placed team, Pockets SC B, who edged past another challenging team, Kinver B 3-2, with Gavin Evans in particularly good form, and Jamie Shuck impressing with a 15th straight win.
In their first season, Dudley Ex-Servicemen might only be sixth, but they are only ten points off the lead and they closed the gap to fifth-placed Bahia’s SC A to two points by defeating them at home 3-2. Tom Pearsall won yet again and he was joined by Matt Short and Matt Johnson before Chris Whitehouse and Reece Bahia, who’s lost only twice, hit back for the visitors.
Moor Pool & Snooker extended their fine home record with a 3-2 triumph over Amblecote Institute B thanks to Neil Gennard, Simon Dingley and Warren Knight.
a result which sent their opponents into the bottom three as they were overtaken by Kingswinford Cons A, who took all five frames on the tables of Amblecote’s C team. John Cowan, Tim Carter, Thomas Male, John Byng and John Rees all won quite decisively to achieve only the 7th 5-0 scoreline throughout the entire season.
Amblecote’s D team, last year’s Second Division champions, produced their best performance of the season to beat Baggeridge Social B 4-1. Jordan Taylor, Carl Butcher, Adam Kensett and Rich Brookes all won well, with Matt Whale the only Baggeridge winner.
Second Division leaders Kingswinford Snooker Centre lost for the third time in their last four matches, 3-2 away to Kinver Constitutional D.

whereas Old Edwardians B had a solid 4-1 win away to Stourbridge Institute B, and they, too are only a point behind KSC. Steve Ball lost narrowly to Mark Daniels, but his sons, Brett, Jack and Sam, and Jat Chager, who did well to beat Harry Jones completed a good night for Old Eds.
Amblecote RBL A could field only four players and lost 3-2 at home to Stourbridge Institute D, but are still only six points off the top. Tom Game and Chris Crumpton secured the Institute’s fourth win in a row, and they are only three points further adrift.
Finally, Bahia’s SC B followed up their win away to the league leaders with a 4-1 home win against Amblecote Institute E. Andy Martin, Gary Skidmore, Pete Jukes and Ben Jones won with Sam Mattocks replying for the Institute.
