Riders returning to Weston Park for anniversary
The world’s leading riders are returning to Weston Park this weekend to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Horse Trials.
Oliver Townend, William Fox-Pitt, Andrew Nicholson, Harry Meade and Izzy Taylor are all lined up to compete in the event in the grounds of the Staffordshire stately home.
For many of the top riders in the Advanced sections, this acts as an ideal warm –up for the Badminton Horse Trials in May.
The course includes new combinations designed to test the best with escape routes when needed.
The Novice and Open Novice plus the Pony Trials take place on Saturday, with the dressage from 8am, show jumping from 8.45am and cross country from 9.45am.
Those times are repeated on Sunday for the Intermediate and Open Intermediate, with the Advanced sections starting with dressage from 9.30am on Sunday, with show jumping at 12pm and cross country at 1pm.
Entry is free to cars with a British Eventing membership, non-member adults are £10 per person and accompanying children under 12 years old are free.
