Aegon Classic Birmingham: Naomi Broady exits to Petra Kvitova
Naomi Broady has had her Aegon Classic Birmingham singles dream ended by two-time Wimbledon Champion Petra Kvitova.
Broady, who received a wildcard entry to the tournament, hosted at the Edgbaston Priory Club, was beated 6-2 6-2 by the dominant Czech star.
Despite exchanging games early in each set, the 27-year-old Brit couldn't keep hold of Kvitova, who showed her quality on the Ann Jones Centre Court to the watching fans.
The win carries the recently returned number 16 into the quarter finals of the tournament, where she'll continue her assault on the Maud Watson trophy against either Kristina Mladenovic or Zhang Shuai, who play tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Johanna Konta continues her run in the tournament against American Coco Vandeweghe tomorrow.
