Roberto Di Matteo: I still have full support of Tony Xia
Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo believes he still has the full support of owner Tony Xia ahead of a potentially pivotal trip to Preston.
The Italian heads to Deepdale on Saturday with his position under increasing scrutiny following a disappointing start to the season, which has seen Villa win only one of their first ten league games. There have even been suggestions Di Matteo could be axed if his team fail to pick up three point, amid claims Xia is losing patience.
Yet while accepting results will have to improve, the manager insists he feels under no added pressure.
"I'm under pressure to deliver results and the team is under pressure to deliver results," said Di Matteo.
"Everybody at the club is in full support of the team, myself and the management team because we all want the same.
"I don't feel under pressure from the chairman or the club at all. I feel the pressure of delivering results and so do the players."
Xia sanctioned a summer spend which saw Di Matteo bring in nine new players at a cost of more than £50million but Villa go into tomorrow's game 17th in the Championship, having drawn their last five games.
