WOLVES-ASTON VILLA
Long-standing Wolves target James Wilson could go out on loan to Aston Villa next season, if the claret and blues management utilise their contacts.
New Villa assistant boss Steve Clarke is a former No 2 to incoming United chief Jose Mourinho and may ask for first refusal in borrowing forward Wilson.
The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Championship rivals Brighton, but continues to be linked with Wolves and West Midlands rivals Birmingham City.
Wolves are also in the race for Fulham striker Matt Smith and Idrissa Sylla, a £2.3million target from Belgian side Anderlecht, but those moves appear to have stalled.
The Cottagers have been tight-lipped on Smith's future while Anderlecht will allow their new manager Rene Weiler time to decide on whether Sylla will stay put.
WEST BROM
West Brom will face fierce competition for Andros Townsend if they activate the release clause in his contract with relegated Newcastle through a £10.5m bid.
Clubs are circling to keep Townsend in the Premier League, with Manchester City and Liverpool monitoring developments At least four more sides are interested.
West Ham, Crystal Palace, Southampton and the Baggies are all keen and can expect to meet hefty personal terms, with the 24-year-old contracted until June 2021 on £80,000-a-week.
